Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik has met with MQM Chief Altaf Hussain and discussed various issues including overall country situation and load shedding issue.

During the meeting, Altaf Hussain said that some elements were engaged in propaganda against government by spreading disinformation; with the sole agenda destabilize the government.

Private TV Channel reported Altaf Hussain as saying that people were compelled to hold protest demonstrations against the load shedding, and urged upon the Prime Minister and President to take some concrete measures on emergency basis to overcome the load shedding issue.

He said that PPP, MQM and rest of the political parties would foil these elements in their nefarious designs. Altaf Hussain also briefed Rehman Malik about the target killing of MQM workers in Karachi.

Rehman Malik briefed Altaf Hussain about the government measures and said that government has set up judicial commission in this connection.

Mr. Sibte Yahya Naqvi, ex Ambassador of Pakistan to The Hague, Netherlands said that in order to increase Pakistan exports to EU countries Pakistani exporters should comply with their required regulatory standards which will lead to access EU markets with ease.

He expressed these views while talking to Mr. Sultan Chawla, President FPCCI here in Karachi at Federation House on Thursday and exchanged views for promotion of Pakistan's export to EU countries.

Mr. Naqvi said that in order to increase Pakistan exports to EU countries Pakistani exporters should comply with their required regulatory standards which will lead to access EU markets with ease. He said that this can easily be achieved by educating the exporters about proper compliances required by the consignees in EU countries. He informed that the potential sectors in which Pakistani exporters can have major share are Textiles, Leathers and its products, Fruits & Vegetables and Fisheries.

Mr. Sibte Yahya Naqvi proposed establishing an institute in Pakistan where state of art training should be given to Pakistani exporters to EU Countries. This institute will educate the exporters on the EU trade regulations and compliances, following which the volume of exports can be significantly increased. He asserted that we should refine our export goods with high quality, suitable packing which will make them more worthy in international market. He suggested that FPCCI, TDAP, Chambers and Associations to come forward for combined efforts for promotion of exports. Pakistan badly needs such steps to improve its trade volumes and increase exports which will help achieve the exports targets.

Mr. Sultan Ahmed Chawla, President FPCCI, said that FPCCI will expand all possible cooperation and assistance to Mr. Naqvi for formation of institution and FPCCI will arrange a seminar on promotion of exports to EU. It was also decided by him to activate Pakistan Netherlands Business Council of FPCCI to intensify interaction with the concerned quarters of Netherlands which is considered a hub in the EU countries.

Mr. Zakaria Usman, Vice President FPCCI, Mr. Siddique Sheikh, Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on CSR, Dr. Mushtaq Noorwala, Executive Committee Members, Dr. Ayub Mehar DG R&D FPCCI and Mr. Mehar Alam Khan, Acting Secretary General FPCCI also attended the meeting.

At least four people of same family were killed when a container fell on their vehicle in ICI Bridge in Kimari Karachi on Thursday morning.

According to the details, a container, which was placed on a trolley, fell on a vehicle after being unbalanced at ICI Bridge, killing two children and two people of same family on the spot.

The bodies were retrieved with the help of crane. The driver of trolley fled from the scene after the incident, however, efforts are underway for his arrest.

SSP Kimari told Private TV Channel investigation into the accident would be carried out and responsible would have to face exemplary punishment.
